This is a great piece of US garage-psych-rock history – Stoned Circus – they started in 1968 in Kansas City and became soon one of the hottest local acts and even opened a stadium show for the Rolling Stones. The fresh powerful sound, with catchy male/female lead vocals, a magic B3 hammond and stunning heavy guitars, reflects a catchy "Jefferson Airplane" atmosphere. Rockadelic Records located the mastertapes in the archives of Cavern Studios, Kansas and released them in 1994 for the first time as limited LP edition. The music was originally recorded in 1970 and is properly remastered; includes a poster, bio and rare photos. Limited edition of 400 black and 100 gold-coloured copies!

This is the re-release of World In Sound´s limited collectors edition from the year 2001, the legendary Darius album, originally released on Chartmaker Records in 1969; those original albums sell nowadays for at least 500$. Darius, the psychedelic "King", is an extraordinary songwriter, poet and singer with a remarkably sensitive voice. His backing band are the fantastic musicians of "Goldenrod", Jerry Scheff, Ben Benay and Toxey French, well known in the LA studio-scene (Doors, Elvis...). The ten original cuts catch the spirit of mystic-loner folk music and distorted garage-psych Rock´n´Roll on Sunset Strip Hollywood by the late 60s. Peloma Bokiu "s/t" LP 22,00 €

Very rare by now, originally released in 1972 on LYRA records, excellent Greek heavy psychedelic album. The band's name Peloma Bokiu came from band mates' surnames. Nikos Daperis, Nikos Logothetis, Takis Marinakis, Vlassis Mponatsos and Yiannis Kiourtzoglou formed in 70's one of the best rock bands in Greece ever. Their first single 'Garyfale, Garyfale' is a classic one until today and had really great lyrics and feeling. The band was playing heavy progressive rock music with strong influences from Santana. It was one of the most capable greek rock bands. Vlassis Mponatsos (Stevie Winwood like singer-second one from left counting) was a very talented guy, he continued playing music and singing until his death last year. He was also starring in T.V. Shows and other T.V. productions and was acting in great theatrical productions, like when he starred Che Guevara role with great Greek female actor Aliki Vougiouclakis starring in Evita musical with great success.

Long expected and now re-issued for the first time - Easy Chair’s 1968 one-sided album with a running time of 20 minutes is one of the most sought-after Northwest psych-underground records of all time. Original copies have been sold for over 1,000 US$. Correctly remembered as psychedelic rock pioneers, they crammed an amazing career into only one year of activity. Easy Chair performed with the Yardbirds, Cream and the Mothers of Invention. Their epic Westcoast blues features a unique guitar chemistry of Larson’s psychedelic leads and Kirby’s fluid lines and hypnotic chording. Their jam-excursions were always satisfying. They played lots of original material and it is known that a complete live-gig was recorded when EC opened for The Mothers at the Shrine Auditorium, L.A. - but the tape seems to be lost (forever).

By end of 1968 they caught the attention of Zappa´s crew and signed a record contract with Bizarre Records to be promoted together with Alice Cooper. Too soon then Easy Chair broke up, but together with EC´s drummer Al Malosky, multi-instrumentalist Simmons recorded the “Naked Angels“ Soundtrack (re-released by WIS in 2008). After releasing his solo album “Lucille Has Messed my Mind up“ in 1969, Jeff joined The Mothers. Carefully remastered from the original mastertape - you´ll get definitive 1968 psychedelia with three haunting and unforgettable long songs, that have the impact of a full length album! Part of the mystique of the 60s garage legacy is that the bands seemed to put all of their considerable talents into one or two singles, and that was it. But behind every 45 there often lurked a handful of equally killer tunes - performed or even recorded, but never released at the time. So many bands had the potential to make it but there was very little room at the top. The Jagged Edge from Brooklyn, New York, seemed to have it all - the chops, an excellent and decent-selling debut 45, and even competent management. They'd performed with a veritable who's who of big-name artists, and they seemed poised for better things. But it all went downhill suddenly, beginning with a threatening lawsuit over their name. Crucial momentum was lost and the Jagged Edge never reached the prominence they deserved.

Now the exposure they warranted all along is finally here. Break-A-Way presents the bands first complete long player incl. their two sharp 45s and for the first time a fistful of six vintage demos. The LP has the bands 1966 all-time garage classic debut 45, “You Can´t Keep A Good Man Down b/w How She’s Hurtin Me“ and their second single release “A Change Is Gonna Come“ b/w their wild psychedelic raga classic “Xanthia“ recorded under the moniker “Off-Set“. Additionally there are two alternate takes of single tracks and four completely unreleased 1965/66 recordings such as the dramatic psych/punker “Lies I Spoke“ completely with psychy effects and a raga-esque break; the strong moody folkrocker “Look In Her Eyes“ as well as “Reflections“ and “Stop Feeling Sorry For Yourself“, two tracks from the poppier side of the band.

This collection proves: the Jagged Edge were way ahead of their times and finally carve out their slice of rock history. All tracks are painstakingly remastered for the garage connoisseurs listening pleasure.

Laghonia "Glue" Col-LP 22,00 €

This is the re-release of World In Sound´s limited collectors edition from the year 2006. The core of Laghonia is a combination of Peruvian and US-citizens, Saul Cornejo (Vocals, Guitar), Manuel Cornejo (drums) and David Levene (lead guitar and vocals). All eight tunes on this album were released on 45s under the groups earlier name New Juggler Sound. When the band changed its name into Laghonia in 1970, the "Glue" album came out , with lyrics in English, great fuzz-wah-wah guitars, Hammond B-2 organ and massive, variative percussion sounds. Their music is catchy psychedelic Rock´n´Roll influenced by the British Invasion, especially the Beatles or Yardbirds, but also explodes with its heavy guitar riffage/solos in the vein of Santana, Cream or Hendrix. The album is remastered from the mastertape and includes a poster with a bio and band pics. Both LAGHONIA albums, “Glue” and “EtCetera” belong to the most legendary and best South American 70s collectors albums!

This is the re-release of their debut album which, as a limited collector´s edition, started the WIS-Dragonwyck trilogy in 2004. The quintet from Cleveland (OH) was one of the most promising bands in that area, opened shows for bands as Foghat, Golden Earring, Edgar Winter Group etc. The mood of the music is dark, heavy, mystic and strongly influenced of the times´ spirit and the Hippie age, anything goes! Shortly after highschool in 1970, they recorded 7 tracks, released a test pressing on Pama Records in an edition of only 85 copies. Jim Morrison and The Doors brought main inspiration to their music, with the small difference; the songs are heavier and more progressive; the sound is not just dominated by great vocals, there are lots of freaked out heavy guitar solos and swirling Hammond B3 organ, which brings the individual note to the music. This re-issue is remastered from the mastertapes, contains a poster with bio, pix and is presented in its originally intended artwork/sleeve. One of the ultimate highlights of the 1970s US heavy psychedelic underground culture!

This is the second previously unreleased album by the Dutch psychedelic hard rock band Cosmic Dealer. Their first album "Crystallization" from 1971 is an outstanding and rare masterpiece for all psych collectors and for sure one of the best Euro-Underground rock albums of the 70s. In 1971 the band was shortly disband but found together in 1973 with a few line-up changes and kept the same musical intention: heavy psychedelic, progressive and guitar driven hard rock, with catchy songwriting, a few US-Westcoast flashes but also extended instrumental jam excursions.

This album contains 6 songs which were recorded in 1973, plus 3 demos from 1971 and as bonus you´ll find a 7"EP with 4 live cuts (25 mins) which were recorded in 1971, including the title track from their debut "Crystallization". The album is is carefully re-mastered to catch the real spirit of the beautiful music and contains a poster and lots of photos and linernotes. Definitely a must-have piece for all 60s psych freaks! SPROTON LAYER was a psychedelic rock band based in Ann Arbor Michigan, which thrived from the fall of 1968 through the summer of 1970. They began under the name Freak Trio as three hyperactive brothers Laurence, Ben and Roger Miller who, at the young ages of 14-16, became addicted to Pink Floyd´s "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" when it came out in 1967! Their unique and euphoric creation of music ranges from progressive-acid-punk to heavy psychedelia with Spaghetti Western Ennio Morricone flashes, with epic results.

The energy of "With Magnetic Fields Disrupted", which was recorded in 1970, is just unbelievable. Twelve strong, intense space music episodes of destruction and rebirth with NO FILLERS! Journalist Michael Azerrad described their recordings in his book OUR BAND COULD BE YOUR LIFE as "a valuable document of an amazing band that sounded like Syd Barrett fronting Cream". The album was first released in 1991 by New Alliance Records, but it did not get much recognition among the 60s collector freaks.

Here is the next chance to discover the whole story of one of the "almost forgotten" US underground art-performance groups. Forty minutes long, the album was remastered from the original tapes, creating a fresh, organic and punchy sound. The booklet features extended band info and about four dozen artifacts including drawings, set lists, photographs, journal entries and more. After Sproton Layer, all Miller brothers contributed to numerous bands such as Destroy All Monsters, Mission Of Burma, and M3. Truly a mind-expanding album!

Hippie singer and songwriter Joe Peace recorded and released his only album privately in Ohio in 1972 after being a long time on the road. Inspired by his road trip and by his idol Johnny Rivers, he created 10 original, emotional & poetic themes. Strawberry Window hailed from the San Francisco Bay Area´s East Bay music scene in the mid 60s and were truly one of the early birds and innovators who made their own distinct brand of Rock ´n´ Roll. They played a heavy-psychedelic-garage style, sounding somewhat reminiscent of the Jefferson Airplane, early Mad River, Buffalo Springfield, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Frumious Bandersnatch. These previously unreleased recordings have survived for the last four decades in a box on a shelf in a band member´s closet.

Meticulous care and detail has been taken to master these recordings with a fresh, open approach, while ensuring that the sound and integrity of the vintage songs remained intact. The amazing music of this guitar based quartet ranges from catchy electric folk tunes and West Coast garage rock to raw energetic acid jams lasting over 10 minutes. You´ll be impressed by the great stereo sound quality throughout their ten original cuts, not to mention their freaky cover version of J D Loudermilk´s "Tobacco Road". It´s an outright shame that this talented bunch were not signed to a record deal back then.

Then again, that´s okay with us because it has allowed World In Sound the opportunity to proudly present for the first time ever, the music of and the history behind this talented group of songwriters and wild performers known as the Strawberry Window. The Strawberry Window release contains 65 minutes of intense but melodic performances and comes with a 16 page color booklet that will take you on a trip back to the halcyon days of the Summer Of Love.

By the way in 1968 they switched guitar players, added a girl singer and changed their name to the Dandelion Wine. They recorded several songs and also released a private pressing of a 4 song 7" EP.

Michael James "Runaway World" LP 30,00 €

A great artifact for all 60s and 70s music collectors. Original copies in good condition change hands for about 500 US$. The spirit of the music is a tasty combination between aggressive fuzz-garage-hard rock and atmospheric psych-folk with moody vocals and a poetic message, comparable to World In Sound´s legendary Phantasia (WIS-1015) or Dr. Hooker. Beside perfectly arranged songs like "You Don´t Walk On My Street", "I Remember" and the psych-trip "Sleepers", you´ll hear weird spoken word themes as "Guatamalan Strange" or "Electronic Silver" and heavy-riff instrumentals.

This was the debut release by Michael James who´s still active in the music business with his own label Empath Records and the groups Children of the Risk, Michael Yonkers and Mounting Santa feat. Dr. Fink of Prince´s Revolution, which have 4 bonustracks on this release. This LP-reissue is produced from the original analog master tapes. So, look forward to this great album by a unique rock artist like none you've heard!

Dragonwyck "Chapter 2" LP + 7" 32,00 €

This release is the second of World In Sound´s Dragonwyck trilogy. The group from Cleveland was one of the most promising bands from the early 70s in that area. After their first legendary 1970 heavy-psych album the keyboardist changed and the band left their garagy Doors influences to create their own sound. The music on these well produced stereo-recordings existed only on acetate (5 copies) and drifted more into the British vein of progressive rock, like King Crimson, Pink Floyd or Yes, but also reflects US-Westcoast feeling like It´s a Beautiful Day.

By 1972 Dragonwyck was performing Moody Blues´ complete "Days of Future Passed" live on stage, which turned out extremely well, so this is for sure the strongest note you´ll recognize. The 10 original cuts are intense and very unique with strong melodies/vocals, heavy guitar solos and an extreme variety of keyboard and vocal sounds. An awesome mix of heavy underground rock with classical chamber-music style/elements. Included you´ll find a bonus 45/rpm record (with pic. sleeve) which was released in 1974, also a poster with a bio, authentic press-releases and cool photos, remastered from the original mastertapes.

Bruce Hamana "Hamana" LP 30,00 €

Hamana´s debut album recorded in 1974, was issued on the local Phoenix label Canyon Records. To most of the 60´s psychedelic rock/folk fans this is almost an unknown album, original pressings seem to have disappeared. Only a few copies are known in collectors hands. Bruce Hamana, a native American, is member of the Hopi Tribe and in 1969 went to college near San Francisco to live in the white man´s world. Instead of traditional native American themes he felt like writing "modern, revolutionary, contemporary music". The result, as you hear on this album, is powerful and melodic and expresses perfectly the sunny California peace, love & freedom feeling, but also contains a social-critical message.

The music itself is emotive with strong vocals, lots of Westcoast psychedelic guitar flashes, a bit garage feeling but also Loner Folk with Native American elements. The appeal of this album reminds of Quicksilver Messenger Service, The Byrds, X.I.T, Neil Young, Buffalo Springfield and Garrett Lund. Nearly unbelievable that on these recordings all instruments, bass, guitars, vocals and drums have been played by Hamana himself. This LP-reissue is a mastertape release licensed by Canyon Records and contains an 8 page booklet and 2 unreleased bonustracks. Highly recommended!

Freeman Sound & Friends "Heavy Trip" LP + 7" 32,00 €

Another group that represents the late 60s, early 70s heavy psychedelic era scene in northeast Ohio, USA (same region of Dragonwyck). Having won the Starshine Productions' "Battle of the Bands" in 1970, the five-member FREEMAN SOUND was established as the most popular of several bands (including Morly Grey), that had records released on the Starshine label. This special collection of original songs and sounds is an exciting bit of rock history that documents some of the charm, wit and depth of talent that made FREEMAN SOUND the special local phenomenon they were. This release includes 12 great, quality tracks with bio and photos.

You'll get stoned on some mind-bending vocals backed by instrumentation that includes some very intense, heavy fuzz and wah-guitar sounds, solid drums and a screaming organ with flashes of famous British groups. Prepare to get off on cuts like the 17 minute "Heavy Trip #70", the Hendrix-like "Tomorrow Is Plastic" and what we would venture to say is the heaviest version of Merle Travis' "16 Tons" ever recorded! TRIZO 50 (post-Phantasia) added a new member on keyboards Bob DePugh. He´s the younger brother of drummer John DePugh. The band recorded more than 100 songs on a 4-track tape recorder during 1973-74. A cross-section was released on a demo album (25 copies). The band introduction on this demo says "Excuse the technical shortcomings. What we want you to notice are the songs, the sound, and the fact that we are exactly what the market is looking for and what the upcoming rock generation is looking for.". Listening to that album you will agree.

The musical spectrum ranges from straight 2-minute psychedelic beat, garage, bubblegum tunes with harmony vocals, pounding organ and excessive fuzz and reminds of likes as Seeds, Stooges, Yardbirds, goes over to distorted "Zappaesque" hardrock cuts into raga acid folk! Trizo 50´s music continues the outstanding, individual and very surprising songwriting of Phantasia. This release includes 22 original cuts. All songs have been carefully remastered and were taken from the original reel-to-reel tapes.

This previously unreleased LP-edition contains an important part of S.F. underground history with GOLD´s first incarnation with Leadsinger Richard Coco, known from the "No Parking" 45RPM already released on LP by Rockadelic and on a CD-compilation "Nuggets from the Golden State" by Big Beat. Here you hear a live set at the Fillmore-West audition, a qualification gig for Bill Graham´s club circuit, which was successfully passed. Gigs at Winterland and Fillmore-West followed. These 42 minutes reach the highest level of power and a unique kind of heavy acidrock sound (containing a 6 min. killer version of "No Parking"), bizarre Rock ´n´ Roll vocals, Ed Scott´s hypnotic rhythm guitar, mindblowing bass and drums create an outstanding and surrounding flow.

Joe Bajza´s soaring solo guitar played in a kind of aggressive Cipollina / Jeff Beck style is brilliantly intense. This combination brings true Sixties S.F. Hell´s Angels party feeling to your home. Also included are an extra their 45 RPM incl. the previously un-reissued flipside of "No Parking", a 4:45 minute sensitive but totally unexpected version of Gershwin´s "Summertime" produced by Country Joe McDonald. Then there´s a poster and great liner notes that reflect the golden sprit of the late 60s early 70s in San Francisco.

Jones Family Band "An Electrified Joint Effort" LP 28,00 €

Formerly unreleased, stoned and eastern sounding psychedelic/garage rock by Joint Effort from Detroit. A different session was already released on CD by WIS. Amazing passionate songs in the early Stooges, Country Joe and the Fish-veins. In 1973 bandleader and singer Val Zukowski founded the short living electrified "Jones Family Band" playing heavy psych blues and garage music with incredible wah-wah guitar leads a la Hendrix. Those cuts also remind sometimes of The Fraction or Bentwint. One of the best and freaked out releases of US 70s Psychedelic Garage Underground!
