"Mission Rock" was recorded live in San Francisco 1971 in Stereo-sound. Gold´s influences are early Quicksilver, Santana and Big Brother & The Holding Company. Find here 68 mins of unreleased material! Gold were in 1971 one of the hottest bands in S.F., even though without an LP. Bill Graham was booking the band to open up for Ten Years After, Big Brother and Mike Bloomfield.

Finally after 32 years here is the album Graham would have liked to hear. Country Joe McDonald took a personal interest in the band and worked with them on a number of projects, on this CD he wrote 2 of the 13 songs. The spectacular guitar-duo Joe Bajza and Ed Scott were often compared to a combination of John Cipollina and Jeff Beck. Gold´s vocalist on "Mission Rock", Robin Sinclair was of the same cut of female singer style as Janis Joplin.

By 1968 Robin had recorded two LPs on Cadet Records with a group called Saloom-Sinclair and the Mother Bear. These recordings are a treasure and reflect intensely the passionate S.F. live music scene of the late 60s. Here´s excessive guitar driven original stuff, with a powerful groovin´ latin-rhythm section and strong vocals. The 12 p. colour-booklet contains an interesting bio, great photos and nice artwork. A must have for all fans of the Hippie S.F. Sound!
